Help with Desk Buddy and Pictailor

Installing

• From our website: open the downloaded file and drag the app into Applications, then open it from there.
• From the Mac App Store: the app installs itself. Open it from Launchpad or Applications.
• Desk Buddy needs macOS 14 or later; Pictailor needs macOS 15 or later. Both run on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Licence keys (website purchases)

• After you buy, your licence key is shown on the thank-you page and emailed to you. Paste it into the app and press Activate.
• Each key works on the number of Macs you bought: 1, 2 or 3 Macs for Desk Buddy, 1 Mac for Pictailor.
• Moving to a new Mac? Open the app's Settings › Licence on the old Mac and press Deactivate This Mac, then activate the key on the new one.
• Lost your key? Get it again for Desk Buddy or Pictailor: we'll email your keys and download link to the address you bought with.

Mac App Store purchases

• App Store versions don't need a licence key. They work on every Mac signed in with your Apple Account.
• To reinstall, open the App Store, click your name, and download the app again.
• Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Desk Buddy help

• Open your clipboard: press Control-Command-V (⌃⌘V), or click Buddy.
• One-click pasting: to paste a copy straight into the app you were typing in, allow Desk Buddy in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility. It's optional: without it, your copy is ready and you press ⌘V yourself.
• Sync between Macs: sign in to the same Apple Account on both Macs, turn on iCloud Drive, and turn on sync in Desk Buddy's Settings. New copies usually arrive within a minute.
• Hide Buddy: double-click him, or use the menu bar icon. Choose Chatty, Normal or Quiet by right-clicking him.
• Passwords stay out: copies from password managers, and copies other apps mark as private, are never saved.
• Website and App Store editions: the Mac App Store edition follows Apple's sandbox rules, so it doesn't include the App Blocker (stopping Music from opening by itself), the screenshot tidy-up or presentation mode. Everything else is the same, and both editions sync with each other.

Pictailor help

• Where do my copies go? Into a Pictailor folder beside your originals. Your originals are never changed unless you choose "Replace original".
• "Allow Pictailor to save here?" In the Mac App Store edition, macOS asks once per folder before Pictailor can save beside your photos. Pick a higher folder (for example your Pictures or home folder) to allow everything inside it. If you decline, copies go to Pictures › Pictailor.
• Erase: the first time you use Erase, Pictailor asks to download its on-device models (about 295 MB). Everything else works without it, and offline.
• Right-click in Finder: select photos, right-click › Services › choose a Pictailor size. If you don't see it, turn it on in System Settings › Keyboard › Keyboard Shortcuts › Services.
• Small photos: Pictailor never enlarges a photo beyond its real size, so it stays sharp.
